Cleveland Works Blood Drive
The Blood Drive held on March 8, 2016 was a great success. In the past
three years we have averaged 17 donors which led to the Red Cross first
shortening the times available for donations and then eventually stopped having
the Blood Drives all together because of the lack of participation.
Our UAW Region 2B Director has been partnering with the Red Cross as a
Leader in advocating donating Blood within our Membership. Brother Karon Waites,
Jr. has initiated this Drive from the beginning with contacting all the players
involved with having this Drive. Kathleen Newell and Jill Cotterman also
assisted with coordinating the event and their help was much needed. There were
three Members of the UAW Local 1050 Women’s Committee that also volunteered
their time for this event; Lynn Bryant, Bridgette Payne & Monique Rucker need to
be recognized as making this a success as well.
We are happy to announce we had 46 Donors successfully
donate blood. That’s outstanding! With that kind of turnout Karon and I will be
working with The Red Cross and Alcoa to have another Drive hopefully sometime in
August. We will work on extending the times for that Drive.
We had a raffle of prizes that were donated by UAW Local
1050, Alcoa & The American Red Cross.
